SWASTIK ARTHOUSE
About Us
Swastik Arthouse was formally established in 2014, with the sole aim of creating meaningful cinema that will have its presence felt globally. It is an independent production house committed to the cause of making arthouse cinema viable. Swastik Choudhury, who is the founder of this firm, works in a corporate company and invests his personal savings to fuel his passion for cinema.
The first film under this banner was the fiercely experimental and critically acclaimed 'Capital I' (2014). It was followed by ‘Khyanikaa-The Lost Idea’ (2017) and ‘Runanubandha – The He Without Him’ (2018) all of which have travelled across the globe including several prestigious international festivals, winning accolades and awards. 'Adieu Godard' (2021) is a tribute to the legendary French filmmaker JL Godard in a unique way and it had its World Premiere at the prestigious Moscow International Film Festival in Apr '21. This is followed by two films in 2023: 'Whispers of a Storm' and 'Son of Adam'. Whispers of a Storm is based on the devastating cyclone - Fani that rocked Odisha in 2019, premiered at the UK Asian Film Festival in London and was mentioned by the honourable PM of UK Rishi Sunal during his address. 'Son of Adam' is a film that is based on the 8 songs of the album - Aami by the rock legend Rupam Islam and guitar maestro Amyt Dutta. The film represents the journey of human beings from the genesis to where we stand today through a unique placement of music as a medium of progression.

With no big financial backing and with limited resources, Swastik Arthouse, is extremely proud of having created films that have travelled to international festivals like Moscow, Jogja-Netpac, Oakland, Cardiff, IIFFK, KIFF, IFFI among others. And all of these could not have been possible without a fantastic group of independent collaborators - fuelled by the love for cinema.
